"Increase water-use efficiency across all sectors."

Project 1: WaterRing

Context

when? where? who? why?

The new environmental and social issues we have been facing for several years now are leading us to rethink our relationship with water and its use. Today, more than ever, water is a precious resource that we must preserve at all costs, particularly in view of its increasing scarcity.
According to a recent article published by VertigoLab, we know that freshwater withdrawals are considerable every year: 218 billion m3 according to eaufrance in 2019. We also note that the use of water for our domestic needs represents :
- 150 litres/day per person
- 50 m3 including 20 m3 of domestic hot water per person/year

It is in this context that our project is born, in order to enable a more sustainable management of this resource so essential to life.

Target

for whom?

Our ambition is to respond to this challenge by targeting all French people. Whether you are an individual or a company, our solution adapts to all situations! The main objective is to generalise its use in order to have a significant impact on our annual consumption.
If we nevertheless had to define our priority target, it could be precisely young workers who are relatively well connected, familiar with new technologies but also aware of environmental issues.

Service offered

what? how?

We have imagined a prototype of connected rings to be positioned on taps, pipes, shower head... or on any other water outlet. This ring will have several uses.
First of all, it will allow us to calculate the household water consumption for all equipped faucets. It will analyze with an AI the consumption habits of the household and its variations.
Then, it will display this data in real time on a smartphone app and will automatically generate statistics and graphs related to this consumption to put into perspective the reality of what it represents. The comparisons used to anchor these data on water consumption in reality will be financial, because reducing water consumption allows you to reduce your bills, but also environmental, because this is the major issue that our project addresses.
As a totally dummy example, for a saving of 2,500,000L over one year, the application will display "2,500,000L of water saved, the equivalent of an Olympic swimming pool" or "2,500,000L of water saved this year, the equivalent of €7,500 in savings".

Project 2: Smart Bubble

Context

when? where? who? why?

With an average of five litres per flush and four toilet flushes per person per day, the annual water consumption of sanitary facilities is 40 m3. At a price of €3 per cubic metre of water, the average annual bill for a family of four is €120. Toilet water consumption accounts for 20% of domestic consumption, second only to baths and showers, which account for 39%.

The flushing toilet, a revolutionary invention, is an indispensable element in every home. It is a guarantee of hygiene and cleanliness, and consumes a lot of water: one flush leak represents 25 litres of water per hour and more than 220 m3 per year for a total value of €684. We have therefore seen that the sanitary facilities represent one of the main areas of water consumption in the home.

Target

for whom?

Our product targets all people who want to improve their consumption of water specifically for sanitary facilities. It also meets the needs of all individuals who wish to personalise their water consumption without having to completely replace the sanitary facilities and thus save a considerable amount of money.

Service offered

what? how?

We have imagined a waterproof connected object whose purpose is to regulate the flow of water emitted in the sanitary facilities and whose volume can increase or decrease according to the chosen parameters. This connected object has the ability to be grafted directly onto traditional toilets. Thus, the tool is connected to an application containing several functionalities such as the "large flush" and "small flush" parameters and other options allowing to adapt its water consumption.

The service we offer makes it possible to constantly maintain the necessary and sufficient quantity of water for each use, thus avoiding water wastage. Thanks to the application, the user will be able to have detailed information on his water consumption and obtain advice adapted to his use.
